What is a Salon?

A Salon is a group of up to 10 households that work together to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Salons may be physical, meaning that the member households are a short distance from each other and that salon members meet periodically. Alternatively, salons may be virtual, meaning that the member households may be distributed across a broad geographical area and that salon members rarely meet each other face-to-face. In either case, the salon chat window makes it possible for salon members to easily communicate with each other.

If your household belongs to a salon, then in addition to tracking emissions for your household, you will be able to track aggregate emissions for your salon. In the future, we plan to offer salon competitions as well as inter-salon cap and trade programs.

Note that by joining a salon, you agree to allow your salon leader to view your emissions data. Your salon leader will typically use this information to generate reports on the salon's progress.
